DocView Capture
DocView Capture needs a licence for each installation. A licence is a small signed file from Dev Soft UK: it names your organisation, the installation ID it is for, until when it is valid, and the modules and limits you bought. It cannot be changed or copied to another installation.
Open the licence page from Settings › Licence, or go to /licence. Everyone can see the licence there; site administrators install it.
The installation ID
Every installation gets an ID the first time it starts, such as DVC-7KQ3-MZ4P-X8RT-2HNV. The licence is issued for this ID. Click the copy button next to it and send it to Dev Soft UK (sales@docview.ai) when you order or renew.
Installing a licence
Choose one of the three ways:

| Load a licence file | You received a .dvlic file for your installation ID. Choose the file (or paste its text) and click Install licence. Works without an internet connection. |
| Activate online | You received a licence key (DVK-…). Type it and click Activate: DocView fetches the licence for this installation. An online licence is checked with Dev Soft UK once a week. |
| 30-day trial | You want to try DocView Capture. Give your organisation, name and e-mail address and click Request a trial. |
A new licence replaces the one before. Installing, renewing and withdrawing a licence are recorded in the audit log (LicenceInstalled, LicenceRevoked).
Evaluation, grace period and read-only
- Evaluation — a new installation works fully for 30 days without a licence.
- Grace period — an online licence that cannot be checked (no internet connection, firewall) keeps working for 30 days after the check was due. Click Check the licence now once the connection is back.
- Read-only — when the evaluation is over, or a licence has ended or was withdrawn, DocView Capture is read-only: everything can be opened and viewed, but nothing can be scanned, changed or processed, and DocView Workers take no new batches. Install a licence to continue; nothing is lost.
Site administrators see a banner at the top of each page during the evaluation, in the grace period and in the two weeks before a licence ends. When DocView is read-only, everyone sees it.
Installing with the installer
The installer asks for the licence file or a trial during installation, so a new system starts licensed. It passes the installation ID and licence through the settings Licensing:InstallationId and Licensing:LicenceFile (a file path or the licence text); a licence given this way is installed when DocView starts.
Tip: When you move DocView Capture to a new server with the same database, the installation ID and licence move with it.
DocView OmniRead
DocView OmniRead, when it is used on its own by your applications, has a licence of its own, per server, installed on its admin page. A DocView Capture licence does not work there, and a DocView OmniRead licence does not work in DocView Capture. See DocView OmniRead on its own.
